In May 2009 i had this real urge to learn reiki. I searched the Internet and could not find any courses available or at least in my price range. I had to learn it... NOW...!! I did come across a lovely lady called Jayn Lee a reiki master teaching Angelic Reiki. The price for such a course was way out of my price range. I kept looking and looking then finally i came across an advert online stating that reiki level one was being taught over the weekend by a lady in Tonbridge wells, this was about an hour and half drive away but it didn't matter. When i phoned and ask if the course was going ahead she replied "oh how strange i was supposed to be in hospital and they cancelled at the last minute, so yes it was still going ahead". Great, off i went and would you believe i managed to got lost on the way. I arrived late...im never late and goodness knows how i found the place but i did. The lady was called Laura and she was a mature lady and asked me to remove my shoes before entering into her house, leave the world outside she said. Her house was full of lovely things and candles burning and there was a lovely view from her living room window of rolling meadows. I felt a sense of peace and through out the weekend Laura cooked a vegetarian food for us both. At the time i wasn't a vegetarian but the food was very nice. We went through the reiki manual, and the learning seemed very slow after all i had just undergone five years of college training. and was in study mode. Over the course of the weekend i had several attunements and i didn't really feel any difference in my self. I had to do reiki on Laura and she was so tired that she fell asleep. A message popped into my head to tell her that she must water her own garden first and that she needed to deal with her issues. To this day i am not sure how or why i ended up at Lauras home, but i felt she was in need of healing and that maybe i was sent there for that reason.? It transpired that she had just lost her husband to a long battle of cancer and that she was wizzing around here, there and everywhere trying to help other people, but she really needed to slow down and heal herself.
From my point of view it is very easy to help other people with there issues, rather than face your own, but sooner or later you have to water your own garden first.
I came away thinking that usui reiki wasn't for me, it was to restricted and that i needed a more simple technique.
